The idea of radio has always fascinated me. All you need is an inexpensive transistor radio and a source of power. Though radio has always played an important role in my life, my deep interest in it was reignited in 2000, when the LPFM (Low Power FM) radio service was established. This was the first time creating a legal radio station seemed like a real possibility.
I wasn’t ready to apply for a frequency in 2000 and the opportunity didn’t come again until November 2013, when the next round of LPFM licenses were made available. Unfortunately, there were no open frequencies in the Austin market, so the project was put on hold.
In 2023 a new LPFM licensing period opened, and this time, and this time we were good to go. With the help of my two founding partners, we successfully obtained an FCC license and the rest is history. Say hello to KLKT 107.9 FM – Radio Lockhart.
KLKT is a community-powered station based in the county seat of Caldwell County. Broadcasting at 100 watts, the station offers the tools and resources necessary for any community member to learn the broadcasting arts and host their own show, all at no cost. Led by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers, KLKT is truly a community-driven project. Learn more by visiting klkt.org, or tune in locally on 107.9 FM. You can find me on KLKT during my two shows, Music Like Dirt, and the Meat Wagon. I’ve also been known to sit in on The Lockhart Lowdown, the local news program on Thursdays at 5PM Central.
In addition to being a radio enthusiast, I spent many years as a live DJ at various venues in D.C., Las Vegas, and Austin, specializing in Jamaican and punk 45s. I also have a deep appreciation for high-quality jazz recordings on the hi-fi.

Music Like Dirt
Every week, I dive into the history of Jamaican music. Ska, rocksteady, dub, and reggae. If you’re a fan of vintage sounds, timeless riddims, and a connection to the roots of modern music, this show’s for you. I explore the greats, uncover hidden gems, and get into the music that has influenced countless artists, and taken influence from the U.S. Airwaves sneaking over to Jamaica.
TUNE IN TO MUSIC LIKE DIRT – EVERY SUNDAY AT 10AM CST on KLKT.ORG
The Meat Wagon
This show is a personal journey through my obsession with music and sounds. It’s a deep dive into the 80s, 90s, and today(just like your favorite lite rock station), highlighting the evolution of my musical tastes, from thrash metal, hip hop and pop to punk, jazz and afrobeat. Expect the unexpected, because I still haven’t figured this shit out.
TUNE IN TO THE MEAT WAGON – EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 10AM CST on KLKT.ORG
