ROCKSTEADY RESURRECTION
Air Date: 04.20.25 10AM CST
This week on Music Like Dirt – Rocksteady Resurrection. The soulful, short-lived era of Jamaican music that bloomed between ska and reggae. From 1966 to 1968, rocksteady slowed the tempo and turned up the emotion, laying the foundation for modern reggae with its deep basslines, tight vocal harmonies, and slowed down rhythms. Though its reign was brief, its influence runs deep — and this show brings some of my favorite rocksteady and rocksteady adjacent tracks .
